The Premier People

by admin on 14/10/2010

WELCOME to the first edition of The Premier People, the only locally owned and managed newspaper in South Tipperary.

We are a weekly free newspaper, published and delivered on Tuesdays in the South Tipperary area, including door-to-door in Clonmel.

From our base at Ard Gaoithe on the Cashel Road in Clonmel, we aim to produce a lively newspaper that reflects the interests and needs of people throughout the southern half of the county.

Our first edition arrives at a time of deep economic difficulty but also of opportunity.

Like many other small businesses in the area, we will be battling an uncertain future, a shrinking advertising market and a financial crisis that has devastated a once-thriving economy.

But also like many other determined small businesses, we believe that hard work, dedication and listening to the needs of local customers, whether readers or advertisers, will go a long way towards achieving success despite the harsh economic environment which we all face.

While our main focus is to produce a news-driven publication that informs and entertains, we also aim to promote local individuals, communities and businesses wherever possible, as we are an integral part of the area we serve.

Staff at The Premier People have a combined experience of more than 40 years in the newspaper business.

Proprietor Ann Commins from Clonmel has a proven track record in successful newspaper management and, as an experienced graphic designer, has been involved in newspaper production for many years. She was a co-founder in 1995 of South Tipp Today, which is now owned by UK publishing giant Johnston Press.

Every aspect of production of The Premier People, from editorial and advertising to graphic design and accounts, will be handled at the newspaper’s Clonmel base to the benefit of readers, advertisers and all local organisations.

We particularly welcome feedback from readers and suggestions regarding any issues in South Tipperary that should be covered by the area’s youngest newspaper.  Contact (052) 6126128 or
