The National Cycling Championships gone under way tonight with the Time Trial taking place in Cahir, HQ for the TT was located at Morrison’s BMW Garage on the N24.

The Time Trial was over 40km and was a relatively flat course.

Winner of the Time Trial was Michael Hutchinson (In Gear Quikvit) in a time of 43 mins 49.52 secs, followed by Martyn Irvine (RTS Racing) at 35.51 secs in second place with Nicolas Roche (Ag2r La Mondiale) at 49.7 secs taking third postion.

Olivia Dillon (Now and Novarti) in a time of 51 mins 25.64 secs was the fastest in the Womens TT while Conor Dunne (VL Technics) in a time of 45 mins 59.57 secs was the quickest in the Under 23.

2, Mel Spath (Cycleways) at 21.52 secs
3, Siobhan Horgan (GSD Gestion) at 1 min 31.42 secs

Under 23:

1, Conor Dunne (VL Technics) 45 mins 59.57 secs
2, Sean Downey (An Post Grant Thornton Sean Kelly) at 24.28 secs
3, Aaron Buggle (Apoge Super U) at 32.05 secs

The next race will be the Veteran’s Road Race which starts on Saturday 23rd at 11am from the Convent Bridge in Clonmel.
