4th Annual Emergency Services Display Day on Sunday 28th May

The 4th Annual Emergency Services Day will take place this Sunday 28th May at Kickham Barracks from 12-4pm.

This day is organised by a multi-organisation committee, which includes representatives from: An Garda Siochana, Clonmel Fire Service, Order of Malta Ireland, the Irish Red Cross and Carrick River Rescue; the event presents an opportunity for members of the public to learn more about first aid, road safety and water safety.

Each of these agencies will be on hand to discuss the services they provide, how they can help you in your local community and how you can help them. There will also be equipment displays from An Garda Siochana and others.

Highlights on the day will include a simulated car crash in which members of Tipperary Fire Services will demonstrate the work involved in removing casualties from dangerous situations, Civil Defence will explain the search and rescue techniques used in various scenarios. The Order of Malta Ambulance Corps and Irish Red Cross will answer any questions you may have on first aid training and community care. Carrick on Suir River Rescue will display their equipment and talk about the training and time that goes into this vital voluntary service.

The Gardai will be there to talk about crime prevention. The RSA will be there to talk about road safety. There will also be someone there to talk to you about the help that’s there for loved ones who may had a drug problem you can also talk about the signs to watch out for. Personal mental health is on the menu as well with local Suicide Awareness Group C-Saw giving a life-saving presentation on community supports and what risk factors to look for in friends and colleagues.
