“Positive Approaches to Type 2 Diabetes Care”:

You Ask the Experts about Your Diabetes, (Type 2)”

World Diabetes Day is coming up and to mark it Diabetes Ireland is holding an education event in Clonmel. This event is of interest to people with Type 2 diabetes and their families.  The format offers a unique opportunity to learn more about the condition outside of the usual healthcare environment.

Attendees will sit face to face with the diabetes experts outside of a hospital setting to learn more about their condition? Diabetes Ireland is delighted to offer this opportunity. In partnership with the Diabetes Department at South Tipperary General Hospital, we have gathered four experts from a variety of fields in the area of diabetes to answer attendees individual questions. To do this, join us in the

Clonmel Park Hotel, Poppyfields, Clonmel on Tuesday, November 21st, 2017 from 7.00pm to 9.00pm.

On the night, each speaker will give a short introduction on their topic. Following this, you and fellow attendees will be divided into small groups (no more than 13) at a round discussion table. Our experts will move from table to table in rotation for 15-minute Q&A sessions. This should allow for easy conversation and give you the opportunity to ask them anything you like about your diabetes, or just listen. There will be light refreshments available at 8.00pm.

The experts and their topics are:

  • “Current Treatment Options for Type 2 Diabetes”

Dr. Mary Jane Brassill, Consultant Endocrinologist, South Tipperary General Hospital.

  • “What about Carbs? – their role in Type 2 Diabetes care.

Ms. Sareen Walsh, Senior Dietitian, South Tipperary General Hospital

  • “What about Activity “why is it so important”

Ms. Leona Guinan, Diabetes Nurse Specialist, South Tipperary General Hospital.

  • “Best Foot Forward”

Ms. Lisa Johnson, Senior Podiatrist, South Tipperary General Hospital

To avail of this invaluable opportunity, register today with Diabetes Ireland on 021 4274229. It is 5 euro to register and please note that we have a maximum of 50 places.
