Peaks Mountaineering Club Notes 18.12.17

by admin on 18/12/2017

The end of this calendar years walking has arrived and the boots will be hung up for a week at least. The Peaks club has had a very good year with many different mountains walked in Ireland and also away in other countries.

The final walk on this year was on the Knockmealdown Mountains and the early walk was led by Donal Mc Namara. John Bourke led the noon walk assisted by Nuala O Connell. There was a lovely treat after in Eldon’s when mince pies, cream and mulled wine was served to the club courtesy of Eldon’s.

The club has a busy programme for 2018 starting with the first walk of the new year on Slievenamon on the 7th January . The early walk at 10am is led by Gerry Barrett and the noon walk by Jim O Flaherty assisted by Rebecca Dromey. All walks start from Eldon’s at the stated time and come fully equipped for a day on the mountains including ordinance survey map no 67 if you have one. Four seasons in one day is often the norm and all the gear needs to be packed including the head torch.

The Peaks Mountaineering Club extends the season’s greetings to all the land owners’ whose lands we have walked in 2017 and wish them and their families a happy and holy Christmas and prosperity and good cheer in 2018.
