Pleased to announce that Tipperary County Council has received confirmation from the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government re its approval for an increase in the provisional funding allocation previously approved for Kickham Barracks Phase 1 under the terms of the Urban Development and Regeneration Fund.

The URDF provisional funding allocation from the Department for this project has now been increased from €2,855,165 to €4,012,966.

This approval now allows the Council to proceed further with the project. As you are aware, Kickham Barracks Phase 1 involves the civic plaza and public realm works, as well as the new Davis Road car park.

In terms of the Civic Plaza and Public Realm works, I can confirm that it will take approx 6 weeks to prepare the tender documents, these will then be sent to a shortlist of 6 contractors to submit tenders within 21 days. I’ve been assured that work will commence this summer . Duration of these works approx 12 to 18 months max.

I can also confirm that contractors have already been appointed for the car park element on the Davis Road, 120 spaces, and works will commence shortly. Duration of works 6 months.
