Clonmel Races
Have you ever been to the horseracing at Powerstown Park. If not, why not ? . Clonmel is fortunate to have this wonderful facility. Indeed the racecourse at Powerstown Park is acknowledged to be one of the most scenic courses in the country. It also affords the spectator a wonderful view of the entire circuit so you can follow the action the whole way around.
Clonmel hosts twelve racemeetings each year. The highlight is the Clonmel Oil Steeplechase which takes place in November. This race has been won by household names such as Imperial Call, Dorans Pride, Beef And Salmon and War Of Attrition. The four evening meetings also bring large numbers to the track, no doubt attracted by the musical entertainment in the Club Stand Bar, the Best Dressed Lady competitions, the Summer BBQ special deals etc etc. Check www.clonmelraces.ie for full details of all these added attractions.
In the spring of 2009 major refurbishment was carried out on most of the public access areas at the racecourse, i.e bars, restaurant, supporters club room, sponsors room, on-course betting shop, toilets etc. The racecourse is now a place that you would be very happy to bring your family, friends, staff, work colleagues, visitors etc.
Normal admission is €15 (Adults) and €10 (OAPs and Students). There is a discount for groups, details of which may be obtained by contacting Eugene Cooney who is Marketing Manager at the racecourse (Tel 052 6188508).
