Old Lanes of Clonmel
MyClonmel >>> Old Lanes of Clonmel
Clonmel was well endowed with lanes in times past. Many still survive, while several are now lost to view, having been incorporated into the fabric more modern buildings. Many others are still in existence, though not very noticeable or obvious to the casual onlooker.
Use the “Read More” links on this page to view the lanes, by street name.
The streets for which lanes are listed are:
- O’Connell St
- Gladstone St
- Mitchel St
- Irishtown
- Parnell St
- Other lanes in various streets.

Does anyone know where school lane was? It is on abirth certificate for 1924.
Thanks
Hi Emma, To the best of my knowledge School Lane is also known as Chapel Lane just beside St Marys Church in Irishtown ( http://clonmelonline.com/clonmel/old-lanes-of-clonmel/lanes-of-irishtown-clonmel/ )
School Lane was a cul-de-sac from Kickham Stto the old National School, “The Old School”.
The Christian Brothers house and garden was on right side, a row of demolished (1940) on left side.
