I love these pictures. My grandmother was born and grew up in Clonmel, in 1885. I have looked several places for history on her, Baptism and such. Her name was Josephine Shaw, her parents were John and Hanna. Hannas maiden name was Farrell. I’m curious if these pictures have the year they were taken. I’m hoping to find some from around 1890 to 1900. I am just pleased to find these. To all, thank you for sharing.

Hi Tom and Admin, Yes it is now Bizaar Hairdressers in Mitchel St., ( Narrow St.,) An interesting thing here is that the little girlwith the boater hat looking into the window is my aunt, Essie Lonergan, my mother’s older sister who when she grew up worked as a Clerical Officer in the Co. Council which was where the Gael Scoil is now up in Irishtown. She may have been the 1st woman Clerical Officer in the Council but I’m not 100% sure of that fact! I have this photo of her in a book somewhere in my house/attic! Love the old photos of Clonmel. Eamonn Crowley, Cherrymount has a good number on his site also and of course John Ryan does the Miscellany Book at Christmas which has lots more old Photos from Clonmel and County Tipp. Have a look at Donal Wilde’s great photos from yesteryear in St. Peter and Paul’s Church, Gladstone St. Clonmel – some great memories there again!
