This fire was on the 12 December 1958 and started at 9:30 in the morning from an oil heater in No. 8.

The clonmel shop was opened in June 53 rebuilt after the fire before finally closing in June 82.

Mc Creerys, O’Connell Street. I think it was once the ESB shop, but I could be wrong.

It was Alec McCreery’s (who came from Kilkenny) furniture store in O’Connell Street. Before that it was Comerford’s Bar and Grocery and before that it was Matt Feehan’s. One of the Feehan family was editor of The Sunday Press. That’s as far as I can go. The chemist shop to the left of the fire was Ben Ben Curry’s, then it was Pat Howley’s, then Seamus Maher’s and I do not know who has it now!
