Does anyone remember Ellen Bushe’s boarding house on Wolf Tone Street, Clonmel? Looking for the address of the house. I think the house is still there, but don’t know which one on the street. Anyone remember Harry Bushe of Clonmel (dies 1957).
It is 0’Connell Street, my late father, John, had a drapery shop next to Fennessy’s. he bought Fennessy’s in the early 1960’s to expand his business and opened a Furniture & Carpet Shop.He sold the buildings some years later to Bank of Ireland, who demolished them, opened a branch, which closed some years ago, it’s now River Island.
The car in the picture was my fathers, he sold it to Justin Nelson, who has published a number of books of photos of Clonmel in the 1950’s / early 60’s
O’ Connell Street, showing F.W. Woolworth’s Co. Ltd.
On the right-hand side of the photo is Jack Fennessy’s shoe shop. He was a member of Clonmel Corporation and lived in a house on the Mountain Road, opposite Hillview Sports Club. The next shop, as far as I know, is the Clonmel Drapery.
Definitely O,CONNELL ST. you can see Woolworths right there in the middle
