On the LHS is a great photo of King and Keatings. The Irish Shell lorry is most likely a Dennis driven by my grandfather,Paddy Burke of Catherine St. Prior to moving to Clonmel,he worked as footman at Murdochs ,now Kilcohran Hotel. He married Mary Scott of Rehill ,also employed at Murdochs, whose mother came from Modeligo and was a native Irish speaker. Her brother John Merrigan died in WW1 and is noted on the commeration wall close to the castle in Dungarvan, under ‘Modeligo’. My grandfathers father apparently often spoke of attending a meeting in Mitchelstown addressed by Charles Stewart Parnell. (???). PdeB.

Pat,

It is likely that you are related to the merrigans on the Wood road, Clonmel, who moved there from Scart Mountain, Modeligo in the late 1800’s.
Tom and Jack Meiigan also fought in WW1 and survived. I would be descended from their brother William.
