Seamus Healy

Seamus is a member of South Tipperary Co. Council having been co-opted in July 2007 to serve the Clonmel Electoral Area. He served as a member of Clonmel Borough Council from 1985-2004 and as a member of South Tipperary Co. Council from 1991-2004.

He had the privilege to serve as Mayor of Clonmel 1994/95 and represented the people of South Tipperary in Dáil Eireann as T.D. from 2000-2007.

Seamus is a longtime trade union and community activist. He served the IMPACT Trade Union at local and national level as branch Chairperson, member of the National Executive and Chariperson of the union’s Health and Welfare Division.

He represented the Union on Clonmel Trades Council and served as President of the Council. As a community worker, Seamus is Treasurer of the Old Bridge Community Association, Director of Cuan Saor Women’s Refuge and Director and Treasurer of the Elm Park Childcare Committee.

 

He has a particular interest in the Health Service having worked as Hospital Administrator for South Tipperary Acute Hospital Services from 1978 to 1999 and is currently a Director of The Friends of South Tipperary General Hospital and Chairperson of the Save Our Hospital Committee.
