trying to trace any relatives remaining in clonmel , Thomas o’mahoney was married to Catherine Hennesey , they had 11 children , if memory served they lived in Anne Street and then Killick street . They had twin daughters Ann( mary bridgitt ) and Eileen o’mahony : Anne married Kenneth Bradley in 1954 she settled in edgware , London . Kenneth Bradley was the son of John “jack” bradley of Dublin and Clonmel ….He brought his family to Liverpool in the ’50’s…

i see the name Loobey popping up on this forum and was wondering whether there is any connection to Mary Loobey who would have been born in the late 1800’s. She married a Michael Wilson and moved over to England in the 1920’s??

Just to add to my comment a bit more info on my Looby connection. Mary Josephine was born to Margaret Looby and James Foley out of wedlock. Mary was born in 1899 in Clonmel. Her mother Margaret B1875 in Liverpool to Thomas Looby and Mary Slattery who moved to Liverpool marrying in 1865. Thomas died in Liverpool in 1876 and the family moved back to Clonmel. Thomas was born in 1838 to Michael Looby and Margaret Bushel and Michael Looby was born to Michael Looby again and Johanna Keady. The family spread out in Clonmel and rural areas with many relatives having made the journey to America and Australia between 1840’s-1870’s. My line stayed in Clonmel until 1922 when they moved over to Manchester in England.

Hello Barbara, I am sure we are related as Ned Looby and Annie Perdue were my Great Grandparents! My Nan was Mary Ellen Looby (Nelly) and my Mum was Doris Carroll. Are you still in Clonmel, I remember you have a sister Madeleine and brother Patrick …. is that right. Sorry I did not reply before but have just seen your message. Lynda

Hi Lynda, I have Looby’s and Carrolls in my family and am from Clonmel. My grandmother was Alice Looby and her sister was Bridget. Her parents were Ned Looby and Annie Perdue. Does this sound like your family?
